2005 BC @ Maryland Sim
A chilly 50 degrees for this cyber noon kickoff. Herbie and Corso both go with the Eagles, and Mathias Kiwinuka gets some love early. I made the executive decision that Josh Wilson would not play because of the injury he suffered last week. BC gets Matt Ryan to start at QB again this week. MD kicks off and it is a touchback. BC picks up a first down on a pass play. D'Qwell Jackson picks up his first TFL early on in this one. A couple of L.V. Whitworth runs has BC down to the MD 37. Another Whitworth run nets 5. On second and 5, Ryan's pass was dropped. 3rd and 5, BC pitches to Whitworth, but he stopped after only a one yard gain,. 4th and 4 and they are going for it. A direct snap to Whitworth for a first down. On first down Ryan hooks up with Whitworth for a gain down to the 4. On first down Dre Moore stops Whitworth after a yard gain. On second down the give is to the fullback Mark Palmer for 6. XP is good. MD set to receive with 1:37 remaining. The kickoff goes into the end zone for a touchback. Hollenbach is rushed from the pocket, and throws a whirling dervish pass complete to VD for a gain of 17. On first down Fridge calls for a TE reverse, the only problem is that the TE was Derick Miller and not VD. Loss of 5. Incomplete on the next two plays and Podlesh trots out to punt. A brilliant punt and coverage gives BC the ball at the 22. Whitworth pounds it for one on first down. A pitch to Whitworth and he throws it . . . complete for a gain to the MD 46. Ryan rolls out and throws deep to the end zone for a touchdown to Jason Lilly for 6 more and the XP is good. Just like that 14-0 MD, with 4 seconds left in the first quarter. Another touchback for MD. Ball up the middle for a loss of 1. A delay out of the shotgun to Tim Cesa for a gain of 3. Hollenbach throws short to Miller on 3rd and 8, for a loss of two. Podlesh to punt. BC takes over at the 39. Another pitch to Whitworth and he gains 4 before meeting #52. On second and short Ryan connects with his TE for the first. Whitworth for 4. Direct snap to Whitworth for a gain of 4. A pitch left to Whitworth is stopped in the back field by William Kershaw. BC punts it into the end zone. A give to Cesa nets 3 yards. Hollenbach connects with Jo Jo Walker across the middle for a gain of 12 and a first down. Hollenbach is sacked on first and calls a TO with 1:58 left in the half. Loss of 6 on the sack. Play action pass complete to VD for a first down at the 48. Hollenbach sacked for a loss of 7 on first down. 1:30 and counting. The pass is intercepted by Dan Lennon on a deflection, and the line backer takes it to the house. XP is good 21-0. Miller couldn't hang on and it was there for the taking. Jo Jo returns the kickoff out of the end zone to the 28. First down was incomplete to VD as he was well covered. Hollenbach was under hot pursuit, and he hit Miller for a loss of 5. Ball up the middle, TO BC and Podlesh is out to give it back to BC. J.J. Justice makes the tackle on the kickoff at the 36. A short completion to the TE and a hurry up mode for BC. Whitworth bounces off a few for a first. On first down he is stopped for no gain. Another short run before BC calls their final TO with 5 seconds left. Ryan airs it out toward the end zone, and it is incomplete. Ugly, Ugly, Ugly!!! MD is set to receive the kickoff. Jo Jo returns it to the 21. Hollenbach sacked for a loss of 5. Ball up the middle for no gain. Hollenbach looks down field to Miller and it is incomplete. Podlesh again comes out. BC returns it up to the 42. A completion to the TE gets BC into Maryland territory at the 42. Kershaw stops Whitworth for no gain. A pitch to Whitworth and he throws across field back to Ryan for a first down. A pass to the TE for a short loss. Kershaw with a devastating hit on Ryan for a sack to bring up 3rd and 16. Isaiah Gardner was burnt down the left side line complete to the 7. Marcus Wimbush broke up the first down pass from Ryan. Whitworth untouched into the end zone for a touchdown. XP is good. 28-0 with 2:01 in the third. Jo Jo returns it from the end zone out to the 19. Hollenbach to Fenner for a first down to the 31. Ball up the middle for 4. Hollenbach to Jo Jo along the sideline for 11 more. Hollenbach's pass falls incomplete on first down. A screen to Ball for a loss of 3. Hollenbach with some time, but he over threw Melendez (brothers). Podlesh punts, and it is a touchback. Draw up the middle gives BC 5. Ryan's pass is INTERCEPTED by William Kershaw and returned for a touchdown. Ennis (keep your fingers crossed) is on and drills the XP as the quarter ends. MD set to kickoff at the start of the third quarter. An onside attempt is recovered by BC. Two MD LB's were in the backfield and Whitworth ran right passed them for a first down at the 31. Whitworth up the middle for a gain of 15. Whitworth with a gain down to the 5. Navarre had a shot at Whitworth in the backfield but he eluded him and took it in for 6. XP is good. 35-7. Touchback. The boo-birds are out as the O takes the field. Play action on first and Hollenbach chucked it into double coverage towards VD, incomplete. Ball for a loss of 1. Hollenbach badly overthrows a wide open Derrick Fenner, and more boo-birds. Podlesh punts from deep and BC it tackled at the 29. Ryan to the FB for a short gain. The FB gets 9 yards and it is 3rd and inches. A Milton Harris tackle is the only thing that stopped Whitworth from gaining another TD. A clipping penalty gives BC first and 25 from the 43. Ryan tried a keeper before being stopped for a loss of 5. 2nd and 30. The FB gains 10. 3rd and 20. MD calls a TO with 10 seconds left allowing BC to attempt a 49 yard FG. Wide right. MD takes over at the 32. Hollenbach complete to Melendez brother for a first down as he steps out with 3 seconds left, before there is a FB draw. Game, set, match (natch).
No need for stats. Jackson and Kershaw were animals on D. BC's lines dominated. The end. |
