Navy Sim Well here we go. Time to kick off the 2005 Simulated season. The depth chart has been released so here we go! A new twist in this years game is Kirk Herbstreit makes a prediction and Lee Corso either agrees or disagrees and throws on the head of the mascot. Well Herbie likes the Terps, and Corso gives a not so fast my friend, and throws on Billy the Goats head giving Navy the nod. MD receives the opening Kickoff and Lattimore returned it to the 21. Hollenbach hit Merrills for a nice gain to get the Terps across the 50. Fridge decided to call a little trickeration and pulled out the halfback pass. Unfortunately Merrills was unable to hit a wide open Hollenbach. On 3rd down Hollenbach hit Vernon Davis for a nice catch and run down to the 22. On the next play Hollenbach and VD hooked up for a TD in the back of the end zone with 3:04 left in the first qtr, giving the Terps a 7-0 lead after Ennis' xp. Navy gets the ball back and after two runs take the ball across mid field down to the MD 40. Navy continues to run at will down to the Md 30 and another first down. However, after several key defensive plays Navy was forced to punt from the MD 36 that results in a touchback. On first down Merrills bust a run for 34 yards. On 3rd and 5 from the 41 Hollenbach went up top to Drew Weatherly for 6 with :02 remaining in the first quarter. At the end of the first qtr MD had a 14-0 lead. In the second qtr, on 3rd and 1 from their own 29 Navy converts to continue the drive. Jermaine Lemons made a huge play in the back field on an end around to force a punt. JoJo Walker returned the punt to the 14 after a big return. Fridge calls a little more trickeration and calls VD's number on a TE around, that results in only a 3 yard gain. On the next play Joey Hanyos fumbles on the 4 after a nice catch. The fumble is recovered by the middies. On 3rd and 2 from the Navy 12, D'qwell Jackson (Q Jack) makes a stop in the back field despite blatant cheating by Navy. The penalty was declined and Navy punts away from their own end zone. On 3rd and inches a give to fullback Ricardo Dickerson results in a 9 yard gain down to the 31. Merrills picks up a first on the next play w ith 1:07 remaining in the half down the 19. Hey Diddle Mario Merrills up the middle to the 4 yard line. On the next play Merills carries to the 2. Hollenbach keeps it on an option for a td with 33 seconds left in the half. Ennis XP is good (I so want to say Das Boot is goot). Navy takes the school girl approach and runs out the clock on the half with MD leading 21-0. MD kicks off and on 3rd and 6 a huge run gives Navy a first down out the 48. Another big run down to the 29. On 3rd and 7 from the 25 the run is stopped by Q Jack City! Navy gets on the board with a 39 yard FG. On the kickoff Keon Lattimore returns the kick out the 25. On first down Hollenbach goes deep to Drew Weatherly to matriculate the ball down field to the 33. On the next play Merrills picks up 7. Ricardo Dickerson picks up the first on the next play. On 3rd and 7 from the 16 Hollenbach pulls off a nice play action and hits Weatherly again in the end zone to give the Terps a 28-3 lead after the XP by Ennis to end the 3rd qtr. Navy is again forced to punt and is again a touch back after a decent drive that just stalled out. On first down Mario Merrills bust one up the middle for an 80 yd TD run gives MD a 35-3 lead. Another 3 and out by Navy and a shanked punt gives MD the ball on the Navy 39. Much to the chagrin of the Terps faithful, Joel Statham checks in. After a holding call you hear this beep, beep, beep, and it is Corso saying that is the offense going in reverse. After running the clock out Md is forced to punt, and again Navy runs out the clock for 35-3 MD win.
