Maryland @ Wake Forrest 2005 EaSim Not sure what team they are watching all year, but all three announcers pick the Terps. Jared Gaither gets his first start and Derek Miller moves back to help VD at TE. Wake kicks off and MD starts at the 19 after a short return. First pass goes to VD across the middle for a gain of 9 and a half. Merrills was stopped for no gain. 3rd and inches is a play action pass complete to Ricardo Dickerson but after a gain of 10 or so he coughed up the pill and Wake recovers on the MD 43. Nice play fake and a seven yard gain to Miller. Another play action this time to VD for a gain of five and the first. Cyber Fridge knows who butters his bread! Dickerson picked up two on first. Hollenbach was sacked on second down bringing up 3rd and goal from the 12. A four yard gain to Miller brings out Ennis who converts the short FG with 34 ticks left in the first qtr. On first down Holloway stopped Barclay in the backfield. On second he converted the long run for a first down. On second and 5 from the 50, a pitch to Barclay was stopped by Wesley Jefferson to bring up 3rd and 8. McPherson broke up the pass, and Wake punts in to the end zone for a touch back. Wow, a half back pass to Hollenbach results in a one yard gain, but wait he fumbles it on contact and Wake tip toes untouched into the end zone for the defensive TD. 7-3 Wake with 3:36 left. On the ensuing kickoff Josh Wilson fumbles, but Johnny on the spot, Derek Miller recovers. Hollenbach lines up in the shotgun, and is forced to scramble for his life after a poor snap. A Dickerson run up the middle results in a 3rd and 11. MD is forced to punt after an incompletion, and the punt is returned 71 yards for a touchdown. This does not look good. Podlesh hit it a ton, but it appeared he out kicked the coverage as he went untouched down the sideline for the score. 2:30 left in the half and MD is set to return the kick. Lattimore returned the ball out to the 25. Hollenbach is sacked on first down. On second down, it was very close to being a sack and fumble, but the zebra's ruled it was a pass attempt. Third down is another incompletion, and Podlesh steps out on the field again, this time the kick is only returned out to midfield. A missed tackle by McPherson results in a huge gain down to the 11. Luckily for McPherson, Dq'well was hustling on the play and made the stop. Chris Varner made a nice pass break up on first down. Kershaw stopped Barclay in his tracks on second. 3rd down is a completion for another TD. XP attempt is good, 21-3 with 1:02 left. Hollenbeck goes deep on first down and it was picked off! It is now 3rd and 15, Weatherly catches a pass for a 1 yard gain, and another Podlesh punt gives the ball back to Wake at their own 33. Barclay completes the HB pass for a 17 yard gain, natch! Dq'well is really flying all over making some hard hits, loss of 5. Another completion down to the 20. On second and goal, from the 5, another TD to a TE, XP is good, 28-3 with 4:29 remaining. I am going to eat now, so it is going to have to be something magical for me to tell you about it! A nice pass to VD sets up 4th and inches around midfield, and they pitched out to Merills for a first down. Another Merrills run results in another first down. This time Hollenbach hits Fenner for a first down. Hollenbach was flushed out of the pocket and hit Fenner down to the one. Tick tick tick, lets get moving boys. Hollenbach drilled a pass to a WIDE open Derek Miller for the TD in the back of the end zone. Ennis Xp is good. 28-10 with 2:16 left. An onside attempt is in order and it goes down the sideline before it is recovered by Wake all the way down at the 20. Barclay bust it up the middle for 16. Game, Set, Match! Wakes running game is taking care of the final minute plus. The game comes to an end at long last and I have enough time to get the Play Station off and the OC on! I don't think you really need any stats for this one. Dq'well had 4 of his 5 tackles for a loss! Well if you want to see the brightside, we won the cyber game last year, and lost the real game, lets hope the trend is reversed this week. |
