MD vs WVU Sim
Well the cyber D7 Weather staff was all over the forecast, and looks great. Both Herbie and the coach agree that the Terps will win. MD wins the toss and returns the opening kickoff to the 25. On 3rd and 2 for the Terps, Hollenbach hit VD down the side line to get the first and the ball out to the 50. On second down Sam and Fenner hook up on a screen pass to get the ball down to the 26. On first down Merrils picks up another first down on the ground down to the 14. Dickerson pounded one up the middle for 6 on first down. Ennis missed the XP!!!! MD kicks off after the TD and WVU takes it out to the 19. Two plays, two first downs for the hoopies. The trend continued on the next play as they take the ball across mid field. Finally only a short gain. On 3rd and 4, they convert on the ground after running off tackle. WVU pulls out the old HB pass, but it fell harmlessly incomplete. On 3rd and 2, from the 23, Dre Moore makes a huge stop, but get this, they get an excessive celebration personal foul, giving the hoopies the first down on the 12. This game is erily realistic. On first down a direct snap to the HB results in a TD, and they manage to convert the XP with 4:57 remaining in the half. Jo Jo returned the kick to the 21. Hollenbach fired down the right side line for a big gain to Drew Weatherly for a first down on the hoopie 30. On first down, Sam hooked up with Jo Jo for a first down across the middle. On third and 7,Hollenbach hooks up with Weatherly again across the middle down to the goal line. They tried a TE reverse for a loss of 1 to VD. On second down, they called a more conventional running play to Merrils up the middle for the TD. This time Ennis' kick is gut, and MD leads 13-7 with 2:45 left in the half. Kershaw made a huge stop in the backfield to bring up 3rd and 17. The Terps call a TO thinking they can get the ball back. After a nice run on 3rd and long, WVU punts it away to Jo Jo Walker, who takes the fair catch at the 27. Three and out, natch! Podlesh comes out and punts it away. WVU hooks up for a big play on first down at the 20. With 1:04 left in the half WVU gets the ball down to the 2 for first and goal. On second down, they punched it. The XP is good. WVU has a 14-13 lead with :057 left. Josh Wilson returns the kick across midfield and down to the 30. Hollenbach fired one to the corner on first down and hooked up with Jo Jo for a TD with :44 left. XP is gout by Ennis. WVU runs out the clock on the corner, after Jeremy Navare made consecutive tackles in the backfield. MD kicks off to start the second half, and WVU gets it out to the 16. WVU tried the direct snap again, this time DQwell is all over it! I'm not sure who the HB is for WVU, (and I am too tired to look it up), but old #24 is a beast. Another unsportsmanlike after a key 3rd down stop, this time on Kershaw gives the Hoopies another first down. Unbelievable. Is Chuck Amatto and his band of thugs in the red unis?? WVU gets another first down and has the ball on the 29. On first down they hook up on a pass play for a touch down, and Jack Griffin is hurt on the play. 21-20 hoopies. Penalties have resulted in 11 points so far. Griffin's injury is a sprained elbow, out four weeks. On 2nd and 14, Sam hits Weatherly for a long pass, only to have it dropped when Weatherly is clobbered. On 3rd and long, Sam hooks up with new fave VD for a long gain down the middle. Merills picks up 5 on 2nd down. Hollenbach's third down pass is incomplete, bringing out Podlesh. MD downs the ball on the four after a great special team effort. No fear for the hoopies though, and it is a gain of 18, next play also results in a first with 0:16 remaining. Navarre makes another tackle in the back field and brings up 3rd and four. Holloway makes the stop, and WVU elects to punt. MD takes over on the 13. On second and 15, Fenner was open, and dropped a wide open pass. Hollenbach 's third down pass, was again dropped by Fenner. Can you say post concussion syndrome? with 3:19 left WVU has the ball out across the 50. On 3rd and 5 WVU connects on another pass down to the 2. A handoff to the fullback results in the TD for the hated hoopies. XP is good, MD down 8, 28-20, with 1:45 left. MD will start at their. own 18. 3rd and 5 after a pass play to Melendez, and Hollenbach missed a wide open VD. 4th down, game on the line, play action and a deep pass to Weatherly down to the 14 with 1:04 left. On first down Weatherly split the defenders in the flat, and took it in for 6. 2 point conversion try to tie, is a play action pass and Joey Haynos drops it. The onside kick is ready, and recovered by the hoopies. WVU picks up one first down and runs out the clock.
