Brutal: The Untold Story of My Life Inside Whitey Bulger's Irish Mob”Brutal”

 MD 16   BC 38

I believe the last thing I heard before the Maryland team came to a screeching……..pause………was, “Do you want a pretzel?”   No.  “Do you have any money?”

The next thing I know the crowd is roaring and the Terps are down 7 before I even take a seat.  The entire day continued to spiral downward for us Terp fans.

Danny Oquendo on a designed pitch was crushed and fumbled leading to the first of 3 turnovers which were returned for touchdowns by the Eagles.  BC was up 14 to 0 before their offense ever took the field.  They went on to defeat the ACC Championship hopeful Terps 38 to 16.  The Terps must now go against all that is good and sacred in the world and root for the U to beat BC on Thanksgiving night.  If BC wins, we are out.  If they lose, then the Wake vs. MD game is again the biggest game of our year.

The Terps defense finally broke on Saturday.  They could not stop the BC running or passing game.  Quarterback Matt Ryan picked the Terps “D” apart and completed passes to 9 different receivers.  He was never sacked and rarely hurried and seemed to be quite comfortable in and out of the pocket.  Maybe the Terps were just out of gas after their last 5 close wins.  Or, maybe their lack of talent in the secondary finally caught up with them.  One problem that they can fix is the poor tackling.  Every guy was either trying to lay a knock out blow on someone or arm tackle.

If Miami gives MD an early Christmas gift and can somehow pull it together and beat BC then the Terps still have to play their hearts out to beat Wake at home.  I hope everyone shows up early and cheers their heads off because our Terps are going to need all the help they can get.  I’m not ready for this surprisingly magical season to end with just a bowl game.  I want an ACC Championship too.  If we don’t get to Jacksonville for the ACC final I still think this season has been a great success.
