Clemson Sims

Well since Fridge is not helping out the webmaster, by claiming the starting QB will be a game time decision, I was forced to do two sims this week, one with each QB.  They are in far less detail, because I thought it would be ridiculous to watch two full sims, so I took notes as I did dishes, etc.

First the Joel Statham game.

On the first drive Das Boot converted a 30 yard FG (have our fortunes changed?).  Kevin Eli recovered a fumble that led to no points.  Das boot nailed a 42 yarder with 2:38 left in the half for a 6-0 lead.  Whitehurst then converted on a 44 yard TD pass as Gerick McPherson was beat with 0:21 in the half.  Das Boot put the Terps on top with a 45 yarder at the 0:30 mark of the third quarter.  Clemson took the lead with a 44 yarder with 2:36 remaining.  MD went for it on 4th, incomplete (shocker) and Clemson converted a FG.  On the next possession, Joel threw a pickle on fourth down, and Clemson ran out the clock for a 13-9 loss.

Key Stats

Joel 2 picks.

Jordan Steffy game

On 3rd and 9 Steffy hit a wide open Derrick Fenner for a 52 yard TD.  Lights Out recorded a safety for a 9-0 lead.  Chris Varner picked off a pass, only to have Josh Allen throw an interception on the next play on an attempted HB pass.  Md's Next possession led to a 45 yard FG by Das Boot and a 12-0 lead.  Suter took the punt from Clemson to the house for a 52 yard score and a 19-0 lead.  Chris Varner then had his second pick with 42 seconds left in the half.  On Md' first drive of the second half Steffy was knocked out with strained pec, but would return.  After a Suter return to the 6 it was first and goal and Steffy hit VD for a two yard td pass on 3rd down.  Fridge went to the second team and Mario Merrils punched one in after some nice runs by Sammy the Bull set it up for a 36-0 win.
