College: Indiana State University (1970) Notable Alumni: Duane Klueh, John Wooden's first All-American, Class of 1949 Larry Bird, NBA, Class of 1979
Nickname: The Brown Helmet and Dr. Leavitt
Claim to Fame: He smuggled an entire bottle of Knob Creek into the UVA game last year by stuffing it in his waistband. There's nothing like sipping an urban bourbon while cheering the Terps to victory!
Here are a few questions to get you warmed up.
What is your prediction for the Terps this season?
“The Terps will finish in the top two in the conference with an 8-3 overall record.” One last one before we get to THE Bix’s Home Brew 5 Questions. Some little bird let us in on your nickname, we all know the story behind Dr. Leavitt, but what is the story with the Brown Helmet? “Back in high school I used to date these girls and they would sh*t on me and give me my walking papers.”
1. Which Hooiser native is sexier, Florence Henderson or Jane Pauley
“Jane Pauley hands down!”
This Just in Mr. Leavitt is correct. Jane Pauley is the sexier Hooiser,
Florence is not without her trade mark dimples, but even she couldn't
make Mr. Brady straight, so we are going to go with Jane on this one.
2. Who makes better beer? Anheuser Busch or Chris? “Anheuser Busch, I have never tasted any of that other crap” Sorry Mr. Leavitt that is incorrect!
Correct Answer- Bix's brew, Reason-When you start seeing Anheuser Busch links on this web page then you can answer however
you feel, but as long a Bix's Brew remains the only corporate sponsor of D7Tailgating.com, then that will be your answer.
3. Was your High School QB career as good as fellow Warren Central High
alum (Indianapolis, IN) Jeff George's?
“That is an interesting question, not as good, I would say just below, we did win the County Championship in my Jr. year."
Sorry Mr. Leavitt, that is once again incorrect.
Correct Answer-George
Since Jeff George went on to have a stellar NFL career we are going to have to
go with him, however in order to make you feel better, the Redskins would have
been better off signing you in 2000. You probably would have been more healthy and a lot less of a cancer in the locker room.
4. Most Famous Indiana Basketball player? Larry Bird or Jimmy Chitwood from Hoosiers fame?
“In my opinion they are very similar people, loners, since Bird only stayed two weeks at IU before returning home to play for State. I would have to say the Bird Man, although don’t forget the Big “O”, he too was a very good player from Indiana.”
We have a developing pattern: once again that is incorrect.
Correct Answer-Jimmy Chitwood.
Larry Bird is a great player and deserves to be in the hall of fame, but come
on, EVERYTIME I have seen Jimmy Chitwood play on TV he has led his team to the
championship against bigger and more talented schools, Not even Bird could match
that feat.
5. Which son do you like better?
Laughter:
“Oh come on are you explicative crazy? I like them equally. I could never answer that!”
Like a typical government employee, you were not able to come to a decision on this issue.
Correct answer is Jason. I had so many people come up to me and say how talented Jason was after singing at Chris
and Megan's wedding, but not one person came up to me to compliment Justin on his drinking abilities after Chris and Megan's
wedding.
There you have it the, first installment of Bix’s Home Brew 5 Questions. Mr. Leavitt did manage to get one
question correct for a score of 1 out of 5. Being that the test was leaned toward Indiana, and he hasn’t lived there for
about 30 years we will cut him some slack. That is not a great, however you are the leader in the clubhouse!
