FSU at MD 2006 EA Sim
Here we are for the mid way point of the dreaded work week before a big match up. Luckily we can also live in the playstation world, and have the EA sim version of this weeks game against the Noles. After a huge homecoming win against NCST, the real Terps are 5-2, while their pixeled friends are 4-3. Going on Bob W.'s weather forecast we are sitting at about 55, with some light rain for this night time kickoff. EA Sports needs to get on the ball and put the black uni's in the game. How does that saying go. "If it's in the game, it's in the game?" Lies, all lies, no black uni's for the Terps. Buster Davis is the featured player on the pre game hype, and both Herbie and Corso pick FSU. Obi kicks off to get this one underway, and it is returned to the 27. First play and Booker gets out to the 42. On first down Lorenzo Booker gets it across midfield. On first (again) he gains 3 on a pitch. On second he gets one. That is 5 carries already. Pitch right to Booker, dives for the first and has it down to the 34. Cyber Jeff Bowden has it figured out. Yet another run and first down to the 16. Booker gets another first down to the 5. This is impressive and depressing to watch. Dre Moore makes the stop after only a gain of one. Second and goal. Pitch left to Booker, untouched for the TD. Cismesia hits the XP, 7-0 with 2:07 left in the first. Heyward-Bey returns the kickoff out to the 19. Ball stopped for a loss of 2. Ball picks up the first on a nice run, and had Cesa been a bit quicker getting in front, he may have been gone. Ball for a loss of two. 2nd and 12 from the 29. Screen to Ball for a gain of 2. 3rd and 10. Hollenbach looked for Hey-Bey but the pass was broken up. Podlesh out to punt. Gardner makes the stop quickly at the 30. Booker fights through a Jefferson tackle for 4. 2nd and 6, and Navarre stopped Booker for a loss of 3. 3rd and 9, the quarter comes to an end. Still 3rd and 9, Weatherford evades the rush and hits Chris Davis for a big gain to the MD 37. Pitch to Booker, but Josh Wilson was blitzing and made the stop for a loss of 3. Pitch right and Wimbush makes a tackle after a 5 yard gain. Weatherford again evades the rush, and again hits Chris Davis for a 35 yard TD in the back of the end zone. Cismesia hits the XP again. 14-0 3:44 left in the half. Heyward-Bey takes it from the 12 out to the 30. Hollenbach on a draw for one. Ball up the middle for a loss of 2. 3rd and 11, and Hollenbach hits Heyward-Bey on a slant for a huge first down. Across midfield at the 43, Ball fights up the middle for 6. Ball up the middle for 3. 3rd and 1 at the 34, 2 mins left. Ball up the middle for the first down to the 27. Hollenbach throws a pass to Oquendo cutting underneath for a gain of 1. Snuffed out. Ball to the left to the 25 for one more. 1:19 and counting, 3rd and 8. Ball is tackled for a loss of 1, and is injured. 4th and 9, Ennis is out for the 43 yard attempt, and it is good with 48 seconds left. 14-2, Obi Kicks off and FSU returns it to the 21. Ball has a bruised quad and will return. A gain of 3 for Booker. Another big run by Booker after breaking a Chris Varner tackle. Josh Wilson to the rescue and makes a tackle. Weatherford calls a TO with 4 seconds left. Weatherford rolls right, throws left to Davis and he again catches it in the end zone. Cismesia hits the XP, but there is a holding call, back them up and try again, still good. 21-3. I stand corrected, one second left, FSU will kickoff before the end of the half. Wilson returns it to the 28. To start the second half, FSU kicks off, and Heyward-Bey takes it from the 8 to the 23. Hollenbach hits Heyward-Bey out to the 50. First and 10, Ball is back, breaks a tackle, and gets to the 38, for another first down. Ball again down to the 30 after the 8 yard gain. 2nd and 2, Ball fights for the first from a shotgun delayed draw. Ball leveled by Buster. 2nd and 12, from the 30, Hollenbach pitches to Ball, he throws back to Hollenbach, loss of 6 as he is knocked out. Hollenbach drills his next one to Isaiah Williams, but he is 3 yards short. Ennis comes out and hit from 38. 21-6. Egekezie kicks off, and it is returned to the 23. All this drizzle and no turnovers yet? Booker gets 3 on a pitch right. Pitch left, and Erin Henderson makes a tackle for no gain. 3rd and 7, Draw to Booker, gain of one, and FSU is forced to punt. Funny I should ask about a turnover. Oquendo coughs it up. FSU takes over at the MD 32. Booker gains 8. Covington gets a TFL, and it is 3rd and 5, from the 27. Wimbush has a nice pass break up. Cismesia comes out for a 44 yard attempt. Up and good. 24-6. Killer turnover. Still 23 seconds left in the 3rd. Wilson returns the kick from the 4 to the 22. Ball gains 4. End of 3rd. Not looking good. Ball gets 2 more yards. Ball gets it on 3rd, and breaks a few tackles out across midfield to the 49. 1st and 10, Hollenbach play action pass to Heyward-Bey to the 26. Lets show some hustle boys! Another play-action, and Hollenbach hits Heyward-Bey underneath, makes a nice move and gets into the end zone. Going for 2. Handoff to Ball no good. 24-12. 3:43 left. An onside kick attempt, and is rolls all the way down to the 33 before someone can get a handle. That someone is. . . FSU. Natch. Gain of one. Weatherford keeper and he gets 11, and another first down. Booker gets about 12. 2:37 and counting. A few more runs and this is over. Booker gets another first, but he was knocked out of bounds at the 30. This time Navarre makes a nice stop on first. 2nd and 10, Booker gets another run, and another first. TO MD, ball at the 16. Stopped for a loss of 3. TO MD. Handoff to the FB, Joe Surratt. gain of 5. Booker gets to the 6, first down, and MD takes their final TO. There is an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on FSU for celebration. Weatherford lines up in the victory formation, and it looks like it is all over. Fumble!!! MD recovers. Wow, I have never seen that before. Hollenbach hits Haynos. 19 seconds left. Hollenbach hits Williams. Stays in though. Over the middle to Oquendo, but time expires. 24-12 final. I had to open my mouth about the turnover didn't I? Stats: Hollenbach 10-11 for 167 1 TD, 1 catch -6 Ball 16 for 72 Heyward-Bey 4 105 1 TD Jefferson 6 Tackles, 1 TFL Wimbush and Henderson 5, |
