EASPORTS Simulation Results for 2004
Here are the 2004 preseason results as seen through the eyes of our beloved friend EASPORTS. As the season goes on I will simulate the game and make lineup changes based on injuries suspensions etc. Look for game by game updates by Thursday of the upcoming game.
Preseason ranking 24
MD 34 NIU 21 Dqwell Jackson was player of the game with 9 tackles, a forced fumble and fumble recovery. MD 50 Temple 10 Josh Allen had 17 carries for 84 yards and one TD with 2 receptions for 43 yds and TD. WVU 38 MD 35 What a heartbreaker. WVU outscored MD in the 4th qtr 17-0! Sammy the bull Maldonado went for 43 carries and 206 yds and a td while adding 2 receiving td's. MD 73 Duke 21 This was a costly game losing Steve Suter for 10 weeks. Maldonado proved he belonged with 47 carries for 302 yds and 8td's! MD 27 GT 20 Sammy the bull was at it again with 44 carries for 257 yds and a TD. MD 27 NCST 24 Josh Allen lead the way with 106 yds and a TD MD 29 Clemson 22 Das Boot led the way in this going 5-5 on FG's with a long of 55. I like what I am seeing! MD 41 FSU 38 Joel Statham was the star going for 261 yds and 3 TD's. This win put the Terps into the top 5 in the rankings, with the only blemish being the debacle in MOTOWN. MD 21 UVA 38 Apparently Terps couldn't stand the prosperity and came out ugly in the game of the week. Maldonado led the way with 28 carries for 131 yds and two td's. MD 13 VT 27 Any team with the name Virginia in it was kryptonite to the Terpies this year. Derrick Fenner was player of the game with 6 catches for 123 yds and a TD Wake 45 MD 38 Here is the one fans and players alike will be asking how and why for a longtime. This game cost the Terps a tie for second in the conference with Florida State, and a potential return trip to the Gator Bowl. Once again the 4th quarter was a killer as Wake outscored them 24 -10. Maldonado lead the way with 39 carries for 183 yds and 3 TD's
Here are the conference standings
The tie for third sent us to the Tangerine bowl to face Boise State. Road trip anyone????
MD 48 BSU 27 Sammy Maldonado rushed for 144 yds and 4 td's on 30 carries. The win put the Terps back into the top 25 at #25 to finish the season. Ohio State won the National Championship and the remainder of the top 5 was South Carolina, Oklahoma, Michigan, USC, and Miami was the top ACC school coming in 6th. Carnell Williams from Auburn won the Heisman trophy. Here are some Statistical leaders for the Terps Joel Statham 2370 yds 19 tds 9 ints 60% Maldonado 1823 Yds 5.0 avg 22 td's 1st team All ACC Allen 415 yds 5.0 avg 4 td's Injured for 4 weeks. Derrick Fenner 839 YDS 6 td's Rich Parson 610 yds 3 TD's Vernon Davis 248 yds 3 TD's Wesley Jefferson 102 tackles 9 sacks 1st team All ACC Dominique Foxworth 2 int's 38 tackles Nick "das boot" Novak 23-26 fg's with a 55 yarder as his long 1st team All Acc Adam Podlesh 44.8 Avg 70 longest Cj. Brooks and Andrew Crummley were also 1st team All Acc, while Shawne "lights out" Merriman and true freshman Mack Frost were second teamers. There you have it. You better believe I was cised when I saw us knock of FSU and then the three game skid to end the season was devastating to watch pop up. If only they could have held onto those 4th qtr leads. Look for a more detailed recap of a new Northern Illinois game once the depth chart has been determined.
