Wake at MD 2006 EA Sim
By the time you have awaken from your post thanksgiving meal nap you will know the importance of the cyber game. This could be for all the marbles for the ACC Atlantic crown, or it could be for bowl positioning. All I can say is go Canes! Wake does not update their depth chart until Thursday, so we are going with the same one they used against VT, and Ralph has stopped commenting on injuries. I am assuming Hey-Bey and Donnie Woods to be out, and Gaither in. The stadium is rocking for this night game in Byrd. The weather is in the high 40's. They are talking up David Halloway, and both Kirk and Lee are picking MD. Obi is set to kick off. Wake returns the kick out to the 25. Wesley Jefferson injures his head on the play ( a loss of 3). A pitch to Kenneth Moore for a loss of 3 more. Skinner drops back on 3rd and 16, the pass is deflected by Gardner, and Wake converts. 1st and 10 at the 40. Moore gains three. 2nd and 7, Moore for a loss of one. Skinner throws a slant, but they only gain 5. Swank out to punt, and Oquendo takes the fair catch at the 22. Ball up the middle for 9+. 2nd and inches, fake pitch to Ball, and Hollenbach hits Haynos out to the 45. 1st down, Ball fights through the line for 7. Ball for no gain. 3rd and 3, and Ball breaks a big run down to the 15 before being tackled by Josh Gaddis. From the I, Ball gets a pitch for no gain. Ball down to the 11 on a counter. 3rd and 6, fake to Ball, rolls out and has Oquendo in the end zone, and he drops it. It is ridiculous how realistic this can be at times! Ennis out and converts the short FG. 3-0. Obi kicks off, and it is returned out to the 24 with 0:17 left in the 1st quarter. Moore up the middle for 1 from the shotgun. At the end of the first quarter, MD 3- WF 0. 2nd and 9, Skinner tried to take off, but is stopped for no gain by Navarre. Screen pass to Moore, and Josh Wilson makes the tackle just short of the first. Shank, I mean Swank out to punt. Oquendo returns it a few yards up to the 25. On first Hollenbach hits I. Williams to the 45. On first Oquendo, was popped fully extended and dropped it. Ball gains 3 up the middle. 3rd and 7, Hollenbach is flushed through the pocket, throws an ill advised pass into double coverage, but Oquendo comes down with it, and takes it in for 6! 10-0 with 3:10 remaining. Obi to kick off again. Wake takes it out to the 22 on the return. A give to FB Rich Belton for one. Pitch to Moore, and a loss of 2. 3rd and 11, Skinner rolls out, is hit by Dre Moore, and he fumbles. Moore recovers it at the 9, however he is flagged for celebration, and MD is backed up to the 24. Ball gets it on first, breaks a few tackles and gets down to the 9. So much for the penalty. Ball on the delay gain on 1. TO MD. 1:53 remaining. Ball is stopped for a short gain. 3rd and goal. Ball up the middle for 2. Cyber Ralph seemed happy to get the 3 points. Ennis out for the 23 yarder, and it is good. 13-0 with 1 minute left. Obi kicks, the ball is fumbled at the 22, and it is scooped up by Dave Philistin and taken back for 6 more. Ennis XP is good. 20-0 0:51 remaining in the half. This time Wake is able to return it out to the 30. 0:47 remaining. Pitch to Moore for a gain of 4. TO Wake. Skinner goes deep to John Tereshinski to the MD 33. Sack by Halloway with 28 ticks left. Skinner hits Willie Idellete. On first down Skinner is sacked. TO Wake, and Swank comes out for the 44 yard attempt and it is good. One second left, and Wake will kick off, and Wilson takes it from the goal line out to the 23. At the half MD 20- Wake 3. Swank to kick off again. Wilson from 2 yards deep gets it out to the 23. Ball battles for a gain of 3. 2nd and 7, Ball gets one off left tackle. 3rd and 6, Hollenbach hits Oquendo on an out for a first down to the 47. Ball takes it across mid field with a 7 yard gain to the 46. A screen pass to Cory Jackson and he gets the first at the 33. Ball down to the 30. 2nd and 7, Ball straight ahead for a gain of 3 more. 3rd and 4 from the 27, pitch left, and Ball gets it. 1st and 10 at the 23, fake to Ball, he hits Haynos for 2 before being knocked out. 2nd and 8, Ball fumbles, but Gaither falls on it. 3rd and 8, and Hollenbach is sacked, 4th and 14. Ennis from 44 is up and splits the uprights. 23-3. Good time consuming drive with some points as a result, I'll take it. Obi kicks off, and it is returned out to the 37. I thought that one was going for 6. Pitch to Moore is stopped for no gain by Christian Varner. Apparently Jefferson was ok, because he just leveled Moore. 3rd and 9, Skinner is flushed, and caught by Jeremy Navarre for another sack. That will end the 3rd 23-3. Decision time for Wake, and the are going for it. Skinner completes a big pass to Idellete for a first down at the MD 37. Moore up the middle for no gain. 2nd and 10, Pitch to Moore, and Erin Henderson makes a big stop for a loss of 4. 3rd and 14, Skinner tries to run, gains 7. 4th and 7, from the 34, and they are going for it again. Skinner has time and hits Nate Morton wide open and in stride for 6. Swank out to kick the XP, and it is good. 3:26 remaining, 23-10. Looks like it is onsides time. Barnes recovers it. MD takes over at the Wake 41. Ball up the middle for 6. He now has 103 on the day. 2nd and 4, Ball gets close to first down territory, they are calling it 3rd and inches. From a formation that Navy would be proud of the, ball goes to Lattimore, and he breaks one tackle and takes it for the TD. Ennis' XP is good. 2:17 left, 30-10. Obi to kick. Excellent coverage. The ball is returned from the 6 to the 16. Moore puts heavy pressure on Skinner and he throws one up caught by Idellete. On first Skinner is picked off by Jeff Allen. MD takes over in Wake territory again. Cory Jackson gets 12. First down, Ball gains 4. 1:27 and counting. Ball gets 3 more. 3rd and 3, clock still moving. Ball is stopped for no gain. TO Wake. 4th and 4 with 0:28 left. Ennis is out and nails the 36 yard attempt. 33-10. 0:26 remaining. Wake returns it out to the 19. A loss of 2 on first. 2nd and 12, pitch to Moore for 3. 4 seconds left and Wake takes a TO much to the chagrin of the MD faithful. Skinner drops back and it is picked off by Gardner as Brad Nessler says he can hear the fat lady (laddie to J.) sing. What a way to wrap up the regular cyber season. Lets just hope the Cyber Canes can pull it off. If I get a chance I may do BC VS Miami while I am packing tonight and shoot you all a text. Happy Turkey Day to all, and make sure you pick up the slack for me not being there this weekend! |
