Before you

FSU recap,
I’d like to

I’m sure
everyone
here at

would
appreciate
your
suggestions
for
Powerball
numbers this
week. Nice
call.
WE
BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Overall:
Halloween
Eve proved
to be the
ideal
setting for
the Terps to
exorcise
fourteen
years of
Seminole
demons. To
put
Saturday’s
win in
perspective,
we don’t
have to look
further than
Maryland’s
record
against
Florida
State since
1992. In
the span of
fourteen
successive
defeats, the
Terps were
outscored by
410 points –
an average
of 29.2
points per
game. I
can’t speak
for every
Terp fan,
but that
statistic
made feel
like a
smacked
ass…until
Saturday.
For the
first time
in history,
I left Byrd
stadium
after a
Florida
State
football
game and
didn’t hear
anyone say,
“Just wait
until
basketball
season.”
Game
Highlights:
The entire
team played
above and
beyond
expectation.
Offense
The
offensive
line
blocked,
receivers
ran correct
routes,
passes were
caught (for
the most
part),
Statham
threw with a
moderate
amount of
accuracy,
and the
running
backs took
their lumps
to keep the
Seminole
defense
honest.
Isn’t it
amazing when
a plan comes
together?
The offense
looked like
it was in
sync for the
second time
this year.
Drew
Weatherly
played well,
it’s good to
see that
4.29 forty
speed put to
good use.
Duke Davis
is just
plain
sick.
Defense
The defense
combined for
a
spectacular
performance.
Josh Wilson
and William
Kershaw
deserve
special
recognition
for their
play on
Saturday.
The defense
was flying
all over the
field, but
Josh Wilson
applied most
of the
pressure on
the Seminole
signal
callers. He
has the
build of a
defensive
back but
hits like a
linebacker.
William “The
Hit Man”
Kershaw
lived up to
his name.
He was in on
multiple key
plays and
snared one
of the two
Terp
interceptions.
Special
Teams
Novak didn’t
miss a field
goal or an
extra point,
going two
for two in
both. See
what happens
when you
make the
first field
goal
attempt?
Money.
Podlesh
performed
just like he
has all
season –
phenomenally.
He averaged
45 yards on
eight punts
and is on
his way to
another
stellar
season.
Game
Lowlights:
The
officiating
- I know
that
everyone
hates
penalties,
especially
when they
are called
against your
team, but
the missed
calls on
Saturday
were
amazing.
Two missed
calls stick
out in my
mind: 1)
The cheap
shot that
Jo-Jo Walker
took on the
sideline.
That hit was
nothing
short of
criminal;
and 2) The
holding
non-call
against the
FSU
offensive
tackle
trying to
block
Merriman on
a pass play
in the
fourth
quarter.
Thank God
that neither
of those
missed calls
had the
impact of
the pass
interference
call in the
Clemson
game.
Game MVP:
Once again,
D’Qwell
Jackson
earns Game
MVP honors.
Mr. Jackson
had eleven
tackles - 8
of the
individual
variety, 3
assists, ½
sack, and ½
TOL. I
can’t
believe that
opposing
offenses
continue to
underestimate
#52. Yes
ladies and
gentlemen,
he is #52 in
your
program, but
#1 in your
heart.
Let’s hope
he doesn’t
develop the
highly
contagious
Steve
Francis
syndrome
after
earning
All-American
status this
year
(fingers
crossed).
