G. Tech Game Recap
Georgia Tech Football Wrap-Up:
My take on the game:
Overall: I have such a hangover this morning. No not the drinking kind, that would be much better, you can take Tylenol for that and it will pass later in the day. This is a football hangover which is much more painful and lasts 6 days.
Apparently Yellow Jackets are capable of ruining both tailgates and football seasons. This game was a Class A stinker. I have never seen our offense so inept since, well the last time we played Georgia Tech. It would be easy to point out that Statham was also the Terp’s signal caller for that game, but I think our problems were a lot deeper than that. I have been dredging writing this one up for the last 18 hours, but might as well do it while it is still fresh on my mind.
Game Highlights: I thought the crowd was pretty solid last night. (What did you expect a highlight from on the field). After our TD, Byrd was as loud as it has ever been despite the score. I am almost certain in the pre-Fridge era that no one would have given a crap after falling down 17-0. An honorable mention highlight was the Steffy substitution. If he goes on to win the job for the next 3.5 years, that would be a historical moment.
Game Lowlights: I will just briefly hit on these since there are so many. Our offensive line could not pick up the blitz. Our QB’s could not adjust for the blitz. Our defense was soft and couldn’t stop 3rd and longs. Foxworth did not play like his normal self. I could go on and on, but this has been painful enough.
Game MVP: The easy thing to do would be to not give out an MVP. However, I think that would be an injustice to our Special Teams. Steve Suter had over 110 yards in punt and kick returns on the day including a 59 yarder which you think would have helped out the offense more. You could argue that he should have gotten by the kicker, but the fact that he got passed the first 10 is good enough for me. Suter also became the all time ACC punt returner yesterday. D-7 Tailgating congratulates Steve Suter on his accomplishment HOWEVER, he is not the MVP. That goes to Adam Podlesh who was called on 9 times yesterday and he managed a 49.8 yard average. He also banged a 59 yarder and put one inside the 20 (with no help from the Offense). That is why I am naming Adam Podlesh my MVP.
