Maryland v.s. Wake Forest, Saturday September 25, 2005

As everyone knows, football games are not one of my favorite activities. Yet when given the option of a football game v.s working 30 hrs on Saturday, the game was looking pretty good. B and I may have not had a traditional tailgating day but we did our best. We started the big day off by watching taped episodes of the OC. After spending quality time with the Cohens, Ryan, Marissa and Summer, we enjoyed burgers in the backyard. Before heading to Grove’s stadium, we rubbed the nose of my front porch turtle for good luck. We perused the parking lot and were happily surprised to see many donned in red and black greeting us with “Go Terps”. Unfortunately we ran into many confused folk with those nasty yellow and black tied-died shirts! I’m not blessed with the talent of football talk, so bear with me as I give my perspective. Good effort by the Deacons to storm the field to Enter Sandman, but the crowd failed in properly reacting to such a high energy tune. Though, seeing the Deacon on a chopper was cool. The stadium is small and since there was a lack of people, B and I moved up to seats right behind the Maryland bench. Therefore we we’re in the center of action. We watched the crazy assistant coach guy yell at the players all throughout the game regardless of the score. And who can miss the big guy pacing the sidelines. I giggled at players’ names such as Lemons and Crummey, so I decided to cheer for them. The highlight of the day for me was meeting the one and only Testudo and having my picture taken with him. Thank god the Terps won, because I couldn’t take another weekend of hearing “I can’t believe they lost!”
To Bob, the one whose down with the sickness: Reasons why I should be the MVP of this tailgate: Number 1: I probably will never be in contention again. Number 2: Thus far I’ve been to more games then Bixler. Number 3: My only competition is Snively who complained the whole day that his throat was sore and I was the only one who had a beer!!!! *
