MD at NCST

07 Sim

Usually we same games like this are for all the "marbles", but this one is for all the Nuts, or (this is even better) all of Humanity.  That's right the winner of this one is likely going to either the Emerald Nuts Bowl in San Fran, or the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise to play on the blue turf.  Yes, the season has been a roller coaster, but for one this team could have tanked so many times, yet they keep fighting no matter what the circumstances are.  Many times I find myself thinking about what could have been. But reality is what it is.  We need this win to get to six wins and become bowl eligible.  So does State.  At the beginning of the season one of these two bowls would have been a disappointment in my mind, but at this point, I really want these guys to go to a bowl.  Even if it is not a high profile bowl.  Now lets see what EA Sports thinks will happen.

Beautiful day in Raleigh for this one.  They are very excited for this one, Talking about Heyward-Bey in the pregame hype, and Corso dons Testudo's head!  It looks as though State will kick off.

0-0 5:00, Wiseman fields the punt at the 15 and returns it to the 28.  1st and 10, Lattimore gets the ball on first.  Interesting, I had Ball as the starter.  Loss of one by the way.  On second down, Ball released down the sideline and Turner hits him for a 30 yard gain.  1st and 10, Pitch to Lattimore right for a gain of 5, I don't understand what is going on.  Pitch left to Lattimore for a gain of 8.  MD to the state 30, Make that the 38 as Turner is sacked on first down.  2nd and 18, Turner looks down field and throws just behind Isaiah Williams.  3rd and 18, the pass is complete to Lattimore for a gain of 28 to the 10, Lattimore follows Cory Jackson for a gain of 2. 2nd and 8, pitch left to Lattimore for a gain of 6.  3rd and 2, it looks like they can get a first without a TD.  Give to Lattimore and he blast it up the middle for a TD.  Flag on the play. Looks like the ever popular celebration penalty.  Tack 15 onto the XP attempt by Obi and it is good.

7-0 2:03 left.  Roberts to kickoff, Bowens returns it out to the 26.  1st and 10, Tre Covington sacks Evans for a loss of 8.  2nd and 18, Evans throws underneath to Marcus Stone who catches and fumbles, Varner recovers.

7-0 1:30 left.  Give to Cory Jackson and he picks up 6.  Fake to Ball and Tuner hits Lattimore for a gain of 3.  3rd and 1, Turner is sacked for a loss of 5.  Obi is on for a 37 yard attempt from the left hash marks, kick is up and good!!!

10-0 0:39 remaining in the 1st.  Kick is returned to the 29.  Evans gives to Eugene for a gain of 7.  2nd and 3, Evans drops back and hits John Dunlap for a gain of 20 as the quarter ends.  Evans throws on first and it is incomplete.  2nd and 10, Evans tries a quick slant that falls incomplete.  Philistin gets a sack on third down.  4th and 16, and Pierson is on to punt.  Varner calls for a faircatch at the 15.  Lattimore gets it for a loss of 2.  2nd and 12, Lattimore gets the 2 back.  3rd and 10, Turner hits Haynos streaking straight out of his stance for a gain of 18.  1st and 10, Lattimore for one MLB Martin II injured on the play.  Lattimore gets it again for a gain of 3.  3rd and 6, Turner is sacked.  Baltz on for his first punt of the day.  From the 32, Darell Blackman takes it gets one block, and only has to beat Baltz who is laid out and he goes all the way.  XP good.

10-7 2:00 remaining in the half.  State to kick off, Scott takes it from the 12, gets room up the middle and no one is going to catch him.  88 yard return. Another flag on the play for excessive celebration.  Tack 15 on to the XP attempt, and it is good.

17-7 1:52 remaining.  Kickoff,  and Blackman returns it out to the 33.  This reminds me of a game in 1995 against State. Evans drops back and it is picked off by Kevin Barnes.  MD will take over on their own 48 with 1:44 left.  Turners pass falls incomplete looking for Ball.  2nd and 10, Turner fakes to Ball, and hits Heyward-Bey on a comeback play, he makes one move and beats everyone to the end zone.  Egekeze's XP is good.

24-7 1:34 left.  Roberts to kick.  Blackman from the 9 out to the 49.  Roberts makes the tackle.  Evans throws deep and complete to Blackman down to the 17.  TO pack.  Three Terps "defended" that pass.  On first Evans pass is batted down at the line.  2nd and 10, Give to Eugene, and Dre Moore stops him for a loss of 2.  On 3rd and long Safety Blitz and Varner gets him.  State to attempt a 38 yard attempt and Hauschazka's kick is good.

24-10 0:29 left.  Wiseman returns it from the 14 to the 33.  Turner dumps it off to Lattimore for a gain of 1, and he gets OB.  2nd and 9, Turner looks right, throws left to Lattimore out of the backfield for a big gain, and he is going to go all the way for a 66 yard score.  Obi on for the XP, and it is good.

31-10 0:12 left.  Roberts to kickoff, and State tries to run a reverse, but MD was all over it.  NCST takes over at the 26, give to Eugene and he meets Erin Henderson to end the half.

31-10 5:00 in 3rd.  Roberts to kickoff, Blackman from the 7, and he goes untouched to the house,  Cue the howling, and here comes the XP.  Up and good.

31-17 4:51 in the 3rd.  NCST to kickoff.  Scott returns it out to the 33.  Turner drops back and throws a pickle to De'Andre Morgan.

31-17 4:43 left.  Evans' pass is dropped.  2nd and 10.  (This may be the longest sim of all time).  Give to Eugene and Adrian Moten gets him for a loss of 3.  3rd and 13, Corner blitz and Nolan Carroll gets the sack.  The Pack to punt, and Varner gets a short return to the 23.  A nice time consuming drive would be nice.  A give to Hey-Bey on an end around and he gets 18 on the play.  Give to Lattimore and a he loses 4 on the play.  Lattimore gets it and he gets the first across midfield on a gain of 20.  1st and 10 at the 44.  Lattimore goes left, and he fumbles, but MD comes out of the pile with the ball.  2nd and 10, Give to Lattimore, and he throws a lateral to Turner who gets two.  Pitch to Lattimore and he gets 5, but will be short of the first.  4th and 3, and they are going for it, Turner gets flushed, and sees a wide open Isaiah Williams down the sideline for 37 yard score.  Wow, no one around him.  Obi on and it is good.

38-17 1:25 remaining in the 3rd.  Roberts to kick, Blackman returns it from the 8 to the 28.  Evans pass is incomplete.  2nd and 10, Moten with a big stop on second.  3rd and 13, Evans drops back, but Wiseman got a hand on it.  State to punt again.  Varner back, returns it from the 41 to the 44.

38-17 0:48 left in the 3rd.  Lattimore gets it on first, and he loses one.  Give to Lee-Odai on an end around for a gain of 16.  I like the play calling this week from Cyber Ralph.  Lattimore gets one or so as the 3rd quarter ends.  2nd and 7, Turner whips it out to Lee-Odai, but he is hit immediately after a gain of 3.  3rd and 4, Turner evades one sack, but not the second.  That will drop them out of FG range on the loss of 10.  Baltz to punt from the 45, Faircatch called, they let it drop, and MD downs it at the 6.

38-17 4:05 left.  Direct snap to Eugene, and he is stopped for no gain.  Evans pass was broken up by Wiseman.  3rd and 10, He looks for Stone, and it falls incomplete.  State to punt from the end zone, Varner from the 48 to the 38.

38-17 3:32 left.  Lattimore up the middle for 2.  2nd and 8, Give to Lattimore and he gets 6.  3rd and 2, shotgun, Lattimore makes one guy miss, but not the second and he is stopped for a loss of 2.  4th and 4 from the 32, Obi is out and his 50 yard FG is good.

41-17 1:42 left.  Corso hears the fat lady singing.  Roberts kick is returned out to the 34.  Evans throws and Isaiah Gardner read it perfectly.  He returns it 10 yards to the 35.

41-17, 1:32 left Lattimore up the middle for 6.  2nd and 4 tick tick tick, Lattimore for no gain.  3rd and 4, 0:41 and counting.  Handoff to Lattimore and he pitches it to Jackson for a gain of 9.  That should do it.

Well, lets see if they can carry this out to the real field.  Well if the boys can't do it on the field I will see you all again in mid-July. Next years game may be powered by the Nintendo Wii if they have NCAA Football 09.  If not the old PS2 will get the nod.  Hopefully I will see you sooner, in late December.  The cyber Terps finish the season at 7-5.  (They are cyber bowl eligible).
