NCST "Game" Recap
NC State Football Wrap-Up: My take on the game: Overall: It is hard to sit down and write as
heart broken as I am right now, but I will do my best. Well we were all at the
game and what can I really say. The only word that comes to mind is De ja vu
(don’t know how to spell that and spell check apparently doesn’t speak French).
We struggled mightily and lost a game that realistically was not as close as the
13-3 final indicated. Back to back weeks of less than 100 total yards
offensively, I did not know that was actually possible. Game Highlights: I just reviewed the box score and
apparently the game was much worse than I remember. I hate the fact that the
offense is so bad that we have to resort to this highlight, but without further
a due, the NC State game highlight was Adam Podlesh’s 70 yard punt. If you are
like me you had no idea it went 70 yards until Sunday morning which shows how
exciting our games have gotten, but a 70 yard punt is quite an accomplishment.
Keep that leg loose Adam, you are going to need it a little more this year.
Game Lowlights: I hate to kick someone when they are
down, but our beat up Offensive line is just so glaring of a problem that…. I….
don’t know how to finish this sentence. QB controversy? QB controversy? They
are probably both on the sidelines begging Fridge to not put them in. We could
barely hand the ball off without some packies in the back field. This may be a
little radical but we probably have two fine QB’s who would turn out to be
pretty good if they had more than 2 seconds to make a play. Well we won’t find
out this year though. Another game low light was Gilmore getting tossed out by
the cops for puking. No wait, that was definitely a highlight.
Game MVP: This is an absolute no brainer. Podlesh continues to make a case as the best punter in Division I, but I am much too proud to name our punter back to back MVP’s. What was lost in yesterdays loss was the defensive performance. We played horribly on 3rd and longs and we benefited from a couple NC State missed field goals, but the Defense did everything they could to keep us in this game. And no one on Defense did a finer job then Shawne “Good luck in the NFL next year” Merriman. Or shall I say “Lights Out”. Merriman had 9 solo tackles and a total of 16 tackles in all. How many “Maniaml” points does that work out to be? Congratulations Shawne, the only person in the world who has made me at least made me consider getting a tattoo, even if only for a split second. |
