We are all set for the final Home Sim of the 2008 season. It is a cold one, with some wind. You have to hope the cold helps the Terps. Antone Smith is getting the pregame hype, and everyone selected the Noles to win. Graham Gano kicks off and Kenny Tate returns it out to the 38. Nice start! Turner completes his first pass down the right sideline for a 21 yard gain to Danny Oquendo. Fake handoff to Scott, then Heyward-Bey results in a sack for a loss of 7. 2nd and 17, Turner throws deep and it is picked off by Myron (I am going to be late because I have a Rhodes Scholar interview) Rolle. FSU takes over at the 16. On first down Ponder gives it to Smith for a gain of 1. Smith gets another carry for a gain of 6. 3rd and 6, Ponder is forced out of the pocket and takes off, he takes a hit and fumbles it OB. FSU is forced to punt on 4th and 2, Gano punts and Oquendo returns it to the FSU 44. Fake to Scott and Turner goes deep again, complete to Oquendo down to the 7. Turner is flushed, throws it to the end zone and it is picked off again by Jamie Robinson. Ponder throws complete to Greg Carr for 21. Reverse to Carr gets 1 yard. 2nd and 9, Wujicak lays Ponder out as he took off up the middle. Gain of 2. 3rd and 7, Ponder is forced from the pocket and sacked by Tre Covington. 4th and 12, from the FSU 39. Oquendo returns it up to the MD 37. 1:09 left in the quarter. Turner completes it underneath to Torrey Smith for a first to the 49. Turner threw out to the flat on the left for Gronkowski, great catch and run, and it is all for naught after a hold. 1st and 20, Turner is sacked by Ochucko Jenjie. Turner throws a nice screen to Scott for a gain of 9. 3rd and 17, as the quarter comes to an end. Man it has been a long time since the Sim team scored. Turners pass was batted down. 4th and 17, Baltz on to punt, fair catch made at the 17. Ponder takes off on first and gets nearly a first, 2nd and inches, Wujicak, and Fokou combine on a sack! 3rd and 6 from the 21, and Ponder hooks up with Preston Parker up to the 42. Ponder looked again for an open Parker, but it was behind him. 2nd and 10, Covington came on an inside blitz and got Ponder again. 3rd and 13, Ponder throws a quick slant to Parker, but he is stopped short of the first. Graham (no Gary Gnu) Ganno punts and Oquendo calls the fair catch at the 18. Smith makes a catch on first and picks up 3. 2:30 and counting, Turner drops back and is picked off again this time by Ochucko Jenjie. FSU will take over at the MD 28. Ponders first down pass is incomplete. 2nd and 10, and Ponders pass was nearly picked off, by a plethora of Terps. 3rd and 10, Ponder is sacked, but there is a flag. It is a hold, declined. 4th and 16 from the 34. That may have knocked them out of FG range. Ganno is on to punt. Fair catch is called as it sails into the end zone for a touch back. 1:40 remaining in the half. Turner was nearly picked off again. That would have been 6. 2nd and 10, and Heyward-Bey drops the short pass. Scott up the middle, gain of 1, FSU takes a TO. Baltz to punt with 1:29 left in the half. Tony Carter returns it for a short gain to the FSU 46. Pass is complete to TE Caz Plurowski. Give to Smith and he gets the first. TO FSU. Ball on the 43. Ponder is sacked by Jamari McCollough. Ponder dumps it off for a short gain. 3rd and 16, No huddle is killing me! 0:42 left, Ponder completes it to Carr to the 21. Ponder takes off and runs up the gut to the 10. Ponder throws to the flat for 3, and MD keeps him in. 10 seconds left, Ponder throws to the end zone and it is complete to Cory Surrency. XP try is good, but there is a hold. Try again, good. 7-0 with 0:06 left in the half. Ganno kicks and Tate returns it out to the 26 before coughing it up. FSU has 2 seconds and Ganno is out for the FG and it is good as the half ends. Tough way to end. 10 points in 6 seconds. Obi is set to kickoff, Preston Parker returns it all the way up to the 44. Ponder drops back and it is picked off by Nolan Carroll and returned to the 44. Turner throws it away on first as he was under heavy pressure. Give to Scott up the middle for a gain of 1. 3rd and 9, Turner completes it to Heyward-Bey for the first down. Pitch to Scott and he fumbles, recovered by FSU. Wow, 5 turnovers so far. Smith runs it up the middle for a gain of 3. Wujciak picks it off down to the FSU 38. Turner gets it to Heyward-Bey on a quick hitter down to the 24. Turner goes to the end zone, and hits Oquendo right in the corner for 6. Obi on for the XP, and it is good. 10-7 FSU with 3:12 left in the 3rd quarter. Parker returns the kick out to the 36 this time. Ponder throws down the sideline complete to the MD 44. Ponder finds a wide-open Surrency and he beats 4 Terps that were in pursuit. XP is good. 17-7. Ganno kicks, Smith returns it out to the 29. 2:37 left in the 3rd. Fake to Scott complete to Heyward-Bey, but it is coming back because of a hold. Of course. 1st and 19 from the 20. Scott gets it for a gain of 2. 2nd and 17, Turner throws to Scott for only a gain of 1. 3rd and 16, do we have that in the playbook? Turner completes it to Hey-Bey but he only got 1. FSU read that one. Baltz to punt, great coverage, no return at the 36. Ponder tried to run, but Alex Wujicak was all over it. Ponder completes it to a TE for a gain of 7. 3rd and 3, 0:21 left in the 3rd. Ponder completes a laser to Parker for the first to the MD 38 as the quarter ends. Smith gets the first carry of the 4th for a gain of 5. A handoff to a FB gets the first down. Ponder completes it to Carr for a first to the 16. Smith takes it up the middle to the 13. 2nd and 7, Smith gets it again for a loss. 3rd and 10, 3:23 left, Ponder is sacked by McCollough again. 4th and 13, Ganno on again, and he hits the 37 yard FG. Ganno to kick off with the Terps trailing 20-7. Smith returns it from the 2 out to the 24. Turner is drilled as he throws, incomplete. Turner hits Lansford Watson for a gain of 6, 3rd and 4, Turner hits Oquendo, but he was tackled short. 4th and 2, they are going for it. Turner is hit as he throws, and that should do it. FSU has to only run out the last minute and a half. Personal foul on FSU. Smith gets the handoff, makes a couple of nice moves, and he takes it to the house. DAGGER. XP is good. Ganno to kick off again. Smith returns it out to the 23. Turner's pass is tipped away from Hey-Bey on first. His second down pass hit Gronkowski in the back. Turner slings it out to Ronnie Tyler for a first to the FSU 42. Turner then dumps it out To Smith for 2. Complete to Oquendo to the 26, TO MD. 0:57 left. Turner completes it to Isaiah Williams to the 14, TO MD. Complete to Watson to the 9, Turner is hit, fumbles, and FSU recovers it. 0:35 left, Ponder still in the shotgun, gives to Smith for 2. Still running plays, give to Smith for a couple as the clock expires. Oh well, lets hope the real Terps can hang on to the ball. |
