Northern Illinois Weather Report please see the bottom for an update as of 9/1! The Forecast Calls for Victory: In what is easily the most anticipated opening game since Notre Dame, the Terps will be looking to deliver a little payback to the Huskies of Northern Illinois. Considering that the Notre Dame game was at a neutral site, I will say that this is the most anticipated home opener in quite some time. Now on to the forecast, if history is any indication the average high for College Park for September 4th is 83F° and the average low is 65F°. This makes for quite a comfortable evening of Husky beating. However, the average is just exactly what it is, an average. The record high for that day is 95F° and the record low is 49F°. So most likely the weather will fall somewhere between those two extreme’s (shocker). According to the farmers almanac the end of August will be unseasonably cool for the Mid-Atlantic. Add this in and we are looking at a high of around 77F° and a low of 57F°. I am going to predict that we have a 20% chance of rain based on past history. So there you have it: The forecast for the September 4, 2004 “Husky Hang” game is partly cloudy skies with a cool morning that will require long sleeves or a jacket, warming up into a beautiful early fall day which will require short sleeves and shorts. A chance of rain for the day is a non-threatening 20%. Also be aware of sunburn, even though the day may be relatively cool, the sun will still be high in the sky and protection should be used (that means hats for us bald guys). Look here for further updates as we get closer to game day. The X Factor- On September 4th, 1939 a thunderstorm deluged Washington D.C. with 4.4 inches of rain in two hours (which is the equivalent of a 100 year storm). September of that year was very dry across much of the nation, and Washington D.C. received more rain during that storm than most other places in the country saw that entire month. We have our first official game day weather update. I hate to brag, but there isn’t much change in the forecast I made a month or so back. The current forecast for September 4, is partly cloudy skies and a high of 78 and a low of 66. The Denton 7 Tailgate forecast was for a high of 77 and a low of 58. So it looks like it may not be as cold in the morning as we anticipated, but the high looks pretty good. Still not much of a chance for precipitation. Though the forecast is right on for now, stay tuned that can change quickly. ***This is a disclaimer to remove all responsibility on myself if this forecast is wrong. Being that it is very difficult to predict the weather greater than 48 hours in advance, the odds of needing this disclaimer are about 100%. However I do believe this forecast will be pretty close to what we can actually look to expect. |
