MD AT Rutgers

Well we are back in cyber world where the Terps are a perfect 4-0. That the good news, the bad news is they are 2-2 in this thing we call real life. This is a huge game both on the pixeled field and the field turf in Rutgers. Ray Rice is getting all the pre-game hype, and Corso dons the Scarlet Knight head. MD is receiving the opening kickoff.
Jeremy Ito kicks it off to Da'Rell Scott who returns it out to the 30. Lattimore gets a toss right for a loss of one. Steffy under center, and Lattimore goes up the middle and gets no gain. 3rd and 11, Lattimore in motion, Steffy drops back, goes deep for Oquendo, and it is incomplete. Baltz to punt and it is taken from the 33 to the 36.
Teel Hands off to Rice and he is stopped by Erin Henderson after a gain of 3. Rice gets it again and gets three as he spins through the line. 3rd and 4, Teel throws over the middle for a first to Tiquan Underwood, tack on a roughing the passer on Dre Moore and it is first and 10 at the MD 20. Rice left, gets one. Teel drops back on second hits Kenny Britt at the one and he gets into the end zone. Ito's XP is good. 7-0 Rutgers with 2:30 left in the first quarter.
Ito to kick off and Scott takes it from the 5 to the 25. Give to Cory Jackson on first for a gain of 3. Steffy hits Heyward-Bey for what would be a first, but he drops it trying to break a tackle and Rutgers recovers at the 39.
Rice goes left for 2 yards. Teel dumps it off to a wide open TE Rudavonic, who rumbles for 15. Underwood catches the pass on first for a gain to the MD 9. Teel throws a WR screen to Kenny Britt and he goes untouched into the end zone. Ito on for the extra point and it is up and good.
Ito to kickoff (again), Scott takes it from the 8 out to the 25. HB draw up the gut for a loss of 1. 2nd and 11, Steffy hits Oquendo on a quick slant he gets the first and more to the 37. Steffy airs it out deep to Oquendo and it is swatted away by a Rutgers DB. Lattimore gets it left, breaks one tackle around the line of scrimmage and takes off for the TD for the 63 yard run. Obi Egekeze on for the XP and it is good. Rutgers 14, MD 7, at the end of the first.
Roberts to kickoff, Tim Brown (not that Tim Brown) returns it to the 37. On first down Teel is sacked by Tre Covington. 2nd and 14, Teel fakes a handoff, looked like he wanted to run, then threw it out of bounds. 3rd and 14, Teel throws to Britt, but he comes down OB! Ito to punt. Oquendo takes it from the 23 to the 33.
Lattimore gets three up the middle on first down. Lattimore hands it off again on second and he is dropped for a loss of 1. 3rd and 8, Lattimore up the middle and he gets 2. Baltz to punt from the 41. Baltz's punt is taken by Dennis Campbell to the house. Excessive celebration and Ito's XP attempt is from the 18, and it is good. 2:52 left in the half.
Ito to kickoff (yet again), Scott takes it from the 7, out to the 24. Steffy pitches to Lattimore and he gets a block, and a huge gain up to the 40. Lattimore up the middle for a gain of 3. Lattimore left for a gain of one. 3rd and 6, Steffy from the shotgun, throws and hits Lance Ball out of the backfield for a first down across midfield to the 46. Lattimore gets it for a gain of 2, TO MD. 1:19 left. Steffy is flushed from the pocket and brought down. TO MD, that makes it 3rd and 11, Steffy flushed again and hits Oquendo on a nice out and up route to the 22. TO MD. Steffy throw to the corner of the end zone and it is caught by Heyward-Bey, bring it back holding on Edwin Williams. 1st and 20, Steffy had Haynos streaking and he dropped it. 2nd and 20, Quick drop and slant to Laquan Williams for 6. On third down Steffy looks for Oquendo, and it is incomplete. Obi comes out for the FG and it is good from 44 yards with 0:23 left on the clock.
Roberts to kick. It is returned from the 17 to the 37 by Campbell. Wiseman had Teel wrapped up and he got away, threw down field and it was broken up by Varner. Pass to Rudanovic to the 45. 3rd and 2, Teel pitches it on an option to FB Jack Corcoran. 4th and 1. They are going for it, with 4 seconds left, Teel throws downfield and it is broken up by Isaiah Gardner. Rutgers has the halftime lead 21-10.
Roberts to kickoff. Fake reverse for a gain out to the 26. Teel drops back on first down, and Adrian Moten makes a stick that causes an incomplete. 2nd and 10, Rice goes out wide, and Navarre gets a sack for a loss of 4. 3rd and 14, Teel tries to hit Rice, but he was OB when he came down with the ball. Ito to punt.
Oqunedo fields it and returns it to the 38. Lattimore gets it and picks up one on first. Give again to Lattimore and he picks up 3. 3rd and 6, give to Lattimore and he was stopped for no gain. Baltz on to punt.
Erin Henderson makes the tackle on the kick coverage. Rutgers takes over on the 22. Teel passes it and over throws everyone. 2nd and 11, did they forget the have Rice? So much for the Heisman gimmick. Oh a toss to Rice, no gain. Check that gain of one. 3rd and 9, Teel throws back across the field, but they are short. 4th and 1, Ito on to punt.
Oquendo back to receive, and gets it out the 45. Lattimore up the middle on a delay for a gain of 2. Lattimore fights for a tough 3 yards to get it out to the 50. 3rd and 5, toss right to Lattimore, and he is stopped for a loss of 5. Baltz to punt, and a fair catch was called for at the 27. Not a great punt.
Rice up the middle and he gets nothing. 2nd and 10, Teel fakes to Rice and hits Britt for a first. Give to Rice up the middle for a yard or less. End of the 3rd quarter. Rice gets it again and picks up one. FB Corcoran limps off the field. Teel looks for his TE, but it was dropped in traffic. Ito to punt again.
Oquendo calls for a fair catch, but lets it go into the end zone. 4:34 left in the game. Steffy hits Heyward-Bey for a first out to the 34. Lattimore takes it up the middle for 12 and a first, as he eclipses 100 yards. Lattimore stopped for a loss of 1. 3:37 and counting. Lattimore gets it and picks up 3. 3rd and 8, fake to Lattimore, Steffy rolls back and runs right into a defender for a loss. Baltz to punt.
The ball is fumbled and MD recovers at the 30, first and 10, and Steffy over throws his receiver. Steffy tried the same play as the 3rd down a few plays ago and is nearly picked. 3rd and 10, Steffy is sacked. 4th and 19, they are going for it, Steffy is sacked all the way back at midfield. This drive looked too much like overtime last week.
Rutgers takes over. Rice gets 8 on first down. TO MD. Rice for no gain. TO MD. 3rd and 2, Rice powers his way to the first to the 42. The booth is reviewing the spot, looks to me like he got it. Play stands. Give to backup FB Jean Beljour for four. Beljour again for one. MD takes the final TO. Teel is sacked by Tre Covington. Ito to punt, 0:44 and counting.
Fair catch is called, Oquendo lets it go, and it gets into the end zone. Steffy tries to hit Heyward-Bey on a slant? 2nd and 10, 0:28 left. Steffy overthrows Lattimore in the flats. 3rd and 10, Steffy hits Laquan Williams for a loss. 4th down incomplete. Rutgers kneels, and it is over.
Well if you look at the last two big games the cyber Terps win, real Terps lose. Lets hope this reverses the trend.
