UNC 2007 Sim
Back for another crucial game, the cyber Terps travel to UNC, to take on the Tar heels. Both teams are struggling. There is a very light rain, and fairly windy, as the forecast calls for the remains of Noel to move along the east coast. Erin Henderson is getting the prename hype, and Corso picks the Terps. Looks to be a packed house at Kennan Memorial as the cyber Terps come to town with a 5-3 record, while our beloved (and beleaguered) real Terps sport a 4-4 mark. This is big game in both dimensions. 0-0 5:00 Connor Barth is set to kickoff, Wiseman returns it from the two out to the 22, but there is a clip called, and the ball is moved back to the 11. On first down Turner hands off to Lattimore and he get 2. 2nd and 8, Lattimore gets it again, and he is stopped for no gain. 3rd and 8, Turner tries to throw to the left sideline for Isaiah Williams, but he drops it. Baltz to punt, and it is returned for 3 yards to the MD 49. 0-0 3:59, T.J. Yates hands it off to Anthony Elzy and he fumbles, recovered by Adrian Moten at the 48. On first down Turner hit Haynos for a 20 yard gain to the 34. Turner on a play action and hits Heyward-Bey under the zone for a nice gain to the 15. 1st and 10, give to Lattimore and he loses 3. 2nd and 13, Turner drops back and it is picked off at the 3, and it is returned all the way for a TD by Trimmane Goddard. Barth's XP is good. 0-7 2:32 left in the first. Barth to kickoff, Da'Rell Scott takes it from the 3 out to the 24. 1st and 10, Isaiah Williams couldn't hear the audible. Give to Lattimore and he gets 5. 2nd and 5, Lattimore takes it off right tackle, makes one juke and is gone to the house for 71 yards as he dives across the goal line. Obi's XP is good. 7-7 1:55 left. Chris Roberts to kickoff. It is returned from the 17 out to the 30. Yates drops back to throw, and it is picked off by Kevin Barnes, who returns it 35 yards for a TD. Flag on the play is . . . Holding. . . against UNC, declined, TD MD. Obi on for the XP and it good. 14-7 1:47 left in the first. Roberts to kickoff. The kick is returned out to the 36. Yates under center, play action, and it is broken up by Dave Philistin. 2nd and 10, another play action, and the pass was dropped across the middle. 3rd and 10, Yates is pass is almost picked again. They are forced to punt. Terrence Brown to punt and Oquendo fields it at the 26. 14-7 1:30 left in the first. On first down the give is to Lattimore and he coughs it up. After a big scrum for the ball, Bruce Carter comes away with it for Carolina. They take over at the 21. On first is a pitch to Elzy for again of 1. On second down the pass is complete to Hakeem Nicks, and he fumbles. I am not sure he ever had it, but Barnes is credited with the recovery, flagged for celebration. MD takes over at the 9. On first down Lattimore gets it for no gain. 2nd and 19, Turner throws short to I. Williams for a gain of 5. 3rd and 14, Turner is picked at the 12 by Hillee Taylor. He too is flagged for unsportsmanlike. Carolina will take over at the 25 after the penalty. Give to Elzy for a gain of 7 as the quarter ends. Play action and Yates hits TE Richard Quinn to the 15. On first Yates throws to the end zone, hits Nicks for the TD. However, there is a flag, for holding. That brings up first and 20 from the 25. Pitch to Elzy and he makes it down to the 9, 2nd and 4. Give to Elzy and he gets 4 and a first. 1st and goal, Yates ducks a sure sack from Moten, and throws toward the end zone. The play was ruled caught OB. It is being reviewed, and it stands. 2nd and goal. Elzy for no gain. 3rd and goal. Yates rolls out and it is picked off by Moten in the end zone. It should be a touchback, but apparently he tried to return it and was tackled at the one. Personally it looks like he was tackled and his momentum carried him out, but that doesn't seem to be the case. 14-7 3:32 MD Takes over at the 1. Ball up the middle for a gain of 1. 2nd and 9, give to Cory Jackson, broken hand and all, for a few inches. 3rd and 9, Turner is dropped int the end zone for a safety by Bruce Carter. Baltz on for the free kick. The kick is returned to the 46, but there is a big hold and they are moved back to the 31. 14-9 2:33 Erin Henderson nearly kills Elzy. Loss of 2 on the play. Gardner just missed a pick, that would have gone for 6. That is why he is a DB. 3rd and 12, and Wiseman comes on a corner blitz and he gets him. TO MD. UNC to punt. Oquendo takes it from the 37 to the 39. 14-9 1:53 1st and 10, Turner is sacked again by Carter. 2nd and 16, Turner quick release on slant to Danny O, and he gets drilled and drops it. 3rd and 16, Turner is sacked again by Quan Sturdivant. 4th and 23. Baltz to punt from the 26. Carolina gets it at the 40. 14-9 1:19 left in the half. 1st and 10, Play action, and an incomplete, and a hold. 1st and 20, Corso does the "beep beep beep" thing. 1st and 20. It is picked off by J.J. Justice and he returns it all the way for a 44 YD TD return. Obi on for the XP, and it is up . . . . . . . and good. 21-9 1:07 left in the half. This has to be the sloppiest, longest half of sim I have ever seen. Carolina returns it and fumbles on the play. Terrell Skinner falls on it at the 25. Turner gives to Jackson for a gain of 3. MD takes its second TO. Turner tried to hit Lattimore, but it was nicely defended. 3rd and 7, give to Lattimore, no gain. Obi comes on for a FG attempt of 39 yards. It is up and good. Flag on the play, holding against MD. Now it will be a 49 yard attempt. The kick is up and good. 24-9 0:16 left. The sloppiness continues. Roberts kicks and it is taken at the 8 out to the 30. 0:13 left, 1st and 10, and Carolina has lifted Yates and brought in Cameron Sexton. He drops back on first is hit and coughs it up. Recovered by Dre Moore at the 25. 0:07 left. MD put Obi out for another FG attempt and he drills it. 27-9 0:04 left. Carolina returns it and the half finally comes to an end. 27-9 Start of the second half. Roberts to kick. The kick takes is returned by Brandon Tate, all the way to pay dirt. Barth's XP is good. 27-16 4:52 left. Barth to kickoff. Scott takes it from the 2 out to the 25. 1st and 10, Turner goes deep to Heyward-Bey and it is complete to 47. Had it not been under thrown it would have gone for 6. Lattimore takes it left for a gain of 4. 2nd and 6, shotgun option, Turner keeps it and loses one. 3rd and 7, Lattimore splits out in motion, and Tuner hits him just short of the first down. They are going for it, option left, and Turner is drilled, but manages to get it to Lattimore for the first. 1st and 10, Turner hit Haynos for a 1 yard gain. 2nd and 9, on the 31, give up the middle for Lattimore for 2 yards . 3rd and 7, Turner is crushed on the fake handoff. 4th and 12 on the 34. Hopefully away from Tate. It's not and he gets it out to the 36. Sexton still in there. Elzy gets it on first for a loss of two. Tackle by Dre Moore. 2nd and 12, Sexton drops back and is picked off by Kevin Barnes, his second on the day. MD takes over at the 32. 30-16 1:14 left in the 3rd. Lattimore gets it for a loss of 1. Wow cyber Ralph has lost it. Give to Lattimore, he drops back throws backwards to Turner who drops it, live ball recovered by Carolina. Another celebration penalty. Elzy get it on first for 1. 2nd and 24. Sexton drops back and it is complete along the sideline for 10. 3rd and 14, and Sexton is dropped by Dre Moore. 4th and 18, as the quarter ends. UNC to punt. Oquendo takes the faircatch at the 27. Kirk and Lee question the punt, down two TD's. 30-16 4:55, Pitch to Lattimore. Loss of 5. 2nd and 15, Turner tries to hit Haynos, but it was over his head. 3rd and 15, Turner ducks the sack, throws a duck, hits Oquendo for 12. That brings up a 4th and 3. Baltz punts and it is well covered. UNC takes over at the 25. Sexton still out there. Elzy for a loss of 1. 2nd and 11, 3:34 left Elzy up the middle again. no gain. On third Sexton goes deep and it was dropped by Nicks. They are again punting with only 3:05 left. Oquendo takes the faircatch. 30-16 3:01 left. Lattimore gets it for a gain of 3. 2nd and 7, Lattimore is drilled after a very short gain. 3rd and 7, 2:19 still remaining. Shotgun, Turner has all day, and throws deep and into double coverage. Play is broken up. Baltz to punt. Tate fumbles the return, and MD gets it. Kevin Barnes gets it. There is my Cyber D7tailgate.com MVP. MD takes over at the 22. Lattimore right, no gain. TO UNC. 1:38 remaining. Lattimore again up the middle, gain of 2. TO UNC. 3rd and 8, Turner drops back, what? And it is complete to Heyward-Bey for a gain of 15. Another celebration penalty. The play was complete to the 5, but the penalty drops them back to the 20. 1:10 and counting. Lattimore goes up the gut for a gain of 7. TO UNC (their last J.). Give to Jackson up the middle for 7 more. 3rd and goal, 0:45 left. Lattimore gets it, loss of 1. 0:18 left, that should do it. Obi comes out, but I don't believe they are going to kick, but wait they do as time expires and it is good!!! Cyber Ralph runts it up. Actually one second left. This game still can't end. Roberts kicks, Tate from the 4 and he is tackled around the 22. 33-16 final. It wasn't pretty, but I'll take it! Nice to get back on the winning side. |
