UNC Sim 2008

Another big matchup in the sim world.  This week we are back at to the friendly confines of Byrd Stadium.  Looks like light rain and mid 50's is what Bob predicted, so that is what we get.  Da'Rell Scott is the man getting all the pregame camera time, as all three commentators pick MD to win.

MD will be kicking off.  Hakeem Nicks returns the kickoff out to the 27.  Sexton completes the pass to Nicks for 9.  He then hits FB Bobby Rome all the way down to the MD 44.  On first down, Shaun Draughn gets 2, before running into Philistin.  Draughn carries again, but Skinner read the play well and stopped him for a loss of.  On third and nine, Fokou gets a sack for a loss of 5.  Fair catch taken by Oquendo.  Scott gets the ball on the first, for a gain of 2.  Turner tried to hit Gronkowski, but it fell incomplete.  On third and long, Turner hits Oquendo for a gain of 29.   On first down, Turner flipped it out to Gronkowski, for a gain of 1.  On second down, Oquendo catches it across the middle for a gain of 5.  J called me, he is complaining about Cosh.  BTW Turner is sacked.  Baltz to punt.  Fair catch taken at the 16.  Sexton's first down pass falls incomplete.  There is a hold on the play.  1st and 20.  Pass to Little for 14.  Sexton's second down pass is broken up by Fokou.  3rd and 6, delay to Draughn and he is stopped by Dion Armstrong.  UNC to punt.  Oquendo returns it for a couple to the MD 46.  Good field position.  Torrey Smith drops the first down pass.  2nd and 10, Turner is sacked again by Robert Quinn.  Turner is sacked yet again, but Marvin Austin (BOOOOOO) this time.  4th and 25, Mr. Baltz on to punt again.  Nicks takes the punt, but the Terps were all over him.  UNC takes over at the 29.  Pitch to Draughn, for about a yard.  2nd and 9, Pass complete for a first to Richard Quinn.  First down.  On first Draughn gets it for no gain.  The pass is complete, but there is another hold called again the Heels.  2nd and 20 form the 30 with 2:54 left in the half.  Nicks dropped a sure first down and big gain.  3rd and 20, Sexton is forced from the pocket and Fokou picks up the sack.  Wow, the sim version of the D-Line is money!  UNC to punt again, Oquendo returns it from the 35 to the 43.  1:58 to go in the half.  Turner tried to hit the WR screen that Hey-Bey took to the house against tech, but they only got a short gain.  Another short gain. On third and 5 Turner was clobbered as he threw it and it sailed out of bounds.  Baltz punts again, and the fair catch is made at the 23.  Sexton throws a pass out to Draughn and he picks up 1.  Skinner closed nicely.  TO UNC.  Another screen out to Draughn, and he is shoved out after a very short gain.  3rd and 9, Sexton hits Brooks Foster up to the 49.  1:06 and counting.  Nicks catches it for a gain of 8.  TO UNC.  0:53 reaming, Sexton hits Nicks again and gets the first.  Sexton completes another pass for a first.  Tre Covington gets the sack with 0:25 left and counting.  Pass is dropped.  On third down Navarre gets another sack.  4th and 20 from the 37, They are going for it, and Fokou gets the sack.  1 second left, Turner throws a quick hitter to Torrey Smith for a gain of 14, as the half ends.

UNC to kick off, Tate fields it, hands it off to someone who I didn't recognize, he fumbles, and MD recovers.  On first down, Turner is running out the pocket, Throws back across his body complete to Heyward-Bey for a loss of 8. Sweet.  Turner does dump it off to Scott and he gets a nice gain.  3rd and 4, and Scott takes the pitch, gets a block, and gets it across midfield to the UNC 41.  Fake pitch and Turner keeps it.  Great call, gain of 9.  Give to Scott and he meets Austin 3 yards deep.  3rd and 4, shotgun, Turner hits Oquendo along the sideline for the first.  1st and 10, from the 28, Dagger they are challenging.  He has to be out.  Play reversed.  Natch.  4th and 4, they are going for it, Sack.  UNC takes over at the 39, Tre Covington gets a sack on first down.  Sexton hits Nicks again for 17.  3rd and 1, at the 48. Sexton is hit again, coughs it up, but it was recovered by Carolina.  they are punting again.  Oquendo returns it from the 21 to the 28.  1:05 left in the 3rd.  Lansford Watson makes the catch for a gain of 8 cutting across the middle.  Turner tries to pick it up, fumbles (forward) and recovered by the Terps for a first.  Scott gets the carry for a gain of 1.  2nd and 9, Scott again for a loss of 3.  Turner hits Watson again, but he is short.  The quarter ends.  Baltz to punt again.  Nicks is stopped after a short return.  Sexton completes it to Nicks for a first down to the 47.  Screen to Draughn, and he gets 9.  2nd and inches, give up the middle and Dion Armstrong stopped him for a short loss.  3rd and 2 from the 45, Give to Draughn again and he is stopped short.  There is a flag, and I am going to guess it is an illegal celebration.  Dagger!  1st and 10, at the 31.  Draughn gains 2.  2nd and 8, Pass is complete, but he was OB.  3rd and 8, from the 29, 2:26 remaining.  Sexton avoids the pressure, dumps it off, and thank Carroll for a first down saving tackle.  FG attempt from 40, is good by Casey Barth.  3-0 Heels with 1:44 left.  Torrey Smith returns it to the 25.  1:41 left.  Turner hits Watson in the back on first.  2nd and 10, Turners pass is broken up.  3rd and 10, 1:34 to go, shotgun, and Turner missed everyone.  4th and 10, ball game, Turner hits Gronkowski, but he is stopped short.  However UNC feels the need to return the favor on the celebration. 1st and 10, from the 46.  Oh dagger, it was after the play.  UNC keeps possession.  Handoff, gain of 7.  TO.  Another handoff, and he gets the first.  TO MD.  Another unsportsmanlike.  (REMIND ME TO TURN THAT OFF NEXT YEAR).  Give to Draughn gain of 1.  TO MD.  2nd and 24, 1:10 left, Draughn, stopped for a loss.  Tick tick tick.  They are throwing, complete, but not first.  They are going to have to punt, about a half second difference in the clock.  It is punted into the end zone, and that will do it.  Stupid penalty continues the drive and leads to the eventual FG.  See you next week.
