UVA at MD 2007
Homecoming, Cyber style. Had this sim been completed back in 1999, some handsome Cyber Dude named Bob W. would have been Homecoming King walking out on to the turf of Byrd in front of a few hundred students in his Samba Classics, but alas this is not nineteen-hundred-ninety-nine. This is 2007 and as far as I am concerned, to this point Chris Turner is Homecoming King. Lets hope his play on the field cements that thought. The cyber team enters this one at 5-1 while the real Terps enter with a 4-2 record. Byrd is dark and rocking for this rivalry game. Clear sky and 70 degrees at kickoff. Erin Henderson getting hype as one of the best defensive players in the nation and Corso picks the Terps. 0-0 MD to receive. Chirrs Gould to kickoff. Da'rell Scott returns it to the 31 from the 12. First play, give to Lattimore for no gain. 3 wide on second, give to Lattimore and again no gain. We miss Crummey. Turner sacked on third by Jeffery Fitzgerald. Baltz to punt. Pearman back to receive and drops it. Recovered by Barnes. Lattimore up the middle and he is stopped for a loss of two by Chris Long. MD at the 44 by the way. Lattimore left for a gain of 2. 3rd and 10. Turner drops back , the pass is tipped and intercepted by Vic Hall and he returns it all the way for a TD. XP attempt by Gould is good. 0-7 2:39 to go in the first. MD to receive Goulds kick. Scott from the 7 to the 27. Our line is hurting without Crummey. Lattimore up the middle for 3, but alas it is coming back for holding. 1st and 20, Pitch right to Lattimore and he breaks one tackle and gains 3. 2nd and 17, Turner had time, but only picked up 2 yards on a pass to Laquan Williams. 3rd and 15, and Turner is sacked again this time by Trey Womack. Baltz from the end zone, faircatch at the 50. 0-7 1:05 in first. Sewell hits TE Stupar for a gain of 8. Pitch left to Pearman, and he loses 2. 3rd and 4, Sewell under center, pitch to Pearman, and Navarre was all over that. Loss of 4. Ryan Weigand on to punt to start the second quarter. Varner makes a faircatch at the 9. 0-7 4:55 left in second. Turner over threw Heyward-Bey on first. Pretty well covered honestly. Turner dances in the pocket, hits Haynos and he picks up 3. 3rd and 7 from the 12, direct snap to Lattimore (brilliant) and he gets out to the 36 after a gain of 24. Turner with a play action, and drills it to Heyward-Bey for 12 and another first. Lattimore for a loss of 2. 2nd and 12, Turner sacked by Long again, and he is INJURED. Wow, big ovation as Jamar Robinson checks in. 3rd and 18, he runs for a gain of 6. Baltz on to punt. Pearman fields it, is drilled and fumbles again, this time UVA is able to fall on it. 0-7 2:35 left in the half. Drop by Tom Santi on first. Sewell hands it off to the WR in motion for a loss of 3. 3rd and 13, Sewell is sacked by Dre Moore. He fought through two guys to get that one. Weigand to punt. Oquendo takes the faircatch at the MD 46. Robinson checks in. 0-7 1:50. Jamie Thomas is injured. The thin line gets thinner. Robinson hit, Laquan Williams for 4. Lattimore gets 2 on second and gets across midfield. 3rd and 4, pitch to Lattimore, he coughs it up, and it is picked up by Safety Byron Claspy and returned for a TD. XP good. MD giving up points before the end of the half. You don't say. 0-14 1:07 left. Scott takes it from the 8 to the 25. Turner is back. Heyward-Bey gets 10 and a first. TO MD. 1st and 10, Turner throws across the middle and nearly get Heyward-Bey killed. Incomplete. 2nd and 10, Turner is sacked and fumbles. MD recovers, Turner scraped off the field with an injured hip. Robinson back in. 3rd and 13, He drops back throws up an ugly pass that is CAUGHT and taken to the house for a 68 yard TD by Heyward-Bey!!! Obi on for the XP and it is good. MD turns the tide on the scoring before the end of the half curse. 7-14 0:27 left in the half. Roberts kicks to Pearman who returns it to the 22. Turner is gone for the game with hip bursitis. No gain for Pearman. Sorry they give him one. They allow the half to end. Roberts to kickoff to start the second half. Josh Zindenberg returns it to the 27. Sewell is crushed by an untouched Erin Henderson coming off the outside. Loss of 9. UVA -17 total yards so far. Santi with another drop after a big hit by Henderson. 3rd and 19, Sewell drops back is hit and fumbles. Recovered by E. Henderson at the 14! 7-14 4:10 To go. Lattimore for no gain. On second Lattimore again for no gain. 3rd and 12. Lost 2 somewhere. On third Robinson takes off. He is drilled as he tries to get the first on foot. Robinson is now INJURED. Tony Logan is now the QB if Robinson can't get back on the field. Obi comes on from 27, and misses left. Ugh. 7-14, 3:17 to go. UVA takes over at the 20. Pearman for a loss of 3. Robinson will return with abdominal strain. Sewell on an option keeper and he is brought down for another loss. 3rd and 18, Sewell hits Stanton Jobe, but is short of the first. Punt to Oquendo, he makes one move and is gone for a 63 yard TD return. Obi on for the XP. Kick is good. 14-14 1:51 left in 3rd. Roberts to kick. Zidenberg returns it to the 37. Pearman destroyed by Dre Moore for a loss of 4. 2nd and 14, pitch left to Pearman, and he gets 12 bringing up 3rd and 2. Sewell is flushed and dumps it off to FB Rashawn Jackson for a loss of 1. UVA to punt again, and Oquendo takes it from the 17 to the 24. 14-14 0:20 left. Robinson is under center (phew) and he pitches it to Lattimore for a gain of 3 as the quarter comes to an end. The give is to Cory Jackson and he gets 13 and a first. MD to their own 40, 1st and 10, give to Lattimore for 1. 2nd and 9, Robinson is sacked on a slow developing play action. 3rd and 13, Robinson is flushed and throws to Haynos who can't come down with it in traffic. Baltz to punt. Pearman takes it for about 3, but there was a blatant facemask on the play. 14-14 3:43 UVA at their own 48. On first down Pearman gets 5. 2nd and 5, Sewell takes off and gets 3. 3rd and 2. (Get your keys out) give to Pearman and Philistin makes a great stop, but is flagged for celebrating! Tack on 15 and first down. 1st and 10 from the 29. Wiseman breaks up a pass attempt on first. 2nd and 10, Sewell throws to the end zone and Gardner breaks up the pass. 3rd and 10, and Sewell converts to the 16. 1st and 10, and Sewell dumps it to Pearman for a loss of 3. Pearman gets it again, for no gain. Nice stop by Navarre. 3rd and 13, Pearman up the middle for a couple. TO MD. Ball on the 19, Gould to kick for the lead, up and good with 1:18 left. 14-17 Gould to kick, Wiseman takes it from the 3 out to the 23. Robinson, welcome to big time pal. Hammered trying to throw on first, just avoiding a sack. 2nd and 10, All kinds of pressure, and Robinson makes an ill-advised pass and it is picked. 14-17 1:07 left. Pearman for a loss of 2. TO MD. 1:04 left. One TO left. 2nd and 12, Pearman for another loss. TO MD (the last J.) Sewell throws hit Santi, and is just short. Oh here we go again, another celebration flag. UVA goes into victory formation and takes the knee. One last kneel should do it. There it is. Unbelievable. Penalties (dumb ones) kill the Terps. BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Till next week, the good news is the real Terps have the chance to avenge this one, and lets be honest, outside of us no one really cares what happens in cyber world. I'm not even sure all you care! |
