Virginia Tech Tailgate Recap By Bob W. Virginia Tech Tailgate Recap
Overall:
You have to love the Thursday night games, even if you have to get up at 5:30 to get to Blacksburg by noon. We even cheated drinking earlier than 6 hours before the game. The only bad thing about a Thursday night game is the parking. Classes are still going on until 4 so you have to park accordingly. Luckily we meet up with some fellow Marylander’s and had a great time. Safety in numbers baby.!
Tailgate Highlights:
The tailgating highlight had to be pre-planning. We had exactly enough beer for the entire tailgate. We didn’t come up short and we didn’t have any leftovers. I have been tailgating for quite a while and I have never experienced that type of coincidence before. I would like to think that we pulled it off ourselves after crunching numbers, but the fact of the matter is it was probably just dumb luck.
Tailgate Lowlights:
Unfortunately, much like the Terrapin Football team, the Beer Pong Table did not make the trip down to Tech. We would have had a great time playing flip cup before the game, but we just couldn’t think of an efficient way to get the table down and back safely. This probably is a good thing for a variety of reasons: A). We weren’t sure what time we could actually get into the parking lots. B). We wouldn’t have had enough players to avoid a TOTAL drunk fest. C). Blacksburg ain’t exactly the flattest place on earth.
On a side note, a personal lowlight was when I tried to re-light my cigar with the wrong end in my mouth. Took a few rinses of Bud Light to get the ash taste out of my mouth. Luckily no one saw me do it.
Tailgate MVP:
We are going to go with Chris Bixler as the Tailgate MVP. He planned the trip, made sure everything was paid for, got the tickets, and then to top it off, was nice enough to not show up at the hotel room so that yours truly had a big ole bed all to myself. Runner up tailgate MVP’s were the Leavitt's. Justin and Jason for driving (and getting me to that waffle house in Christiansburg, Mmmmm waffles), and Mr. Leavitt for supplying the transportation. Thanks to all for a memorable trip (minus the football part). Honorable Mention to Matt L. and Matt P. for showing us a good time at their alma mater even though we got smoked!
“Enjoy your basketball Season” -Me, at least 500 times on Thursday night. |
